The Abe Caplan Memorial Cardiac Training Program Open to individuals who have had a myocardial infarction or who have symptoms recognized as factors to coronary artery disease (e,g, angina pectoris, high blood pressure, ...) The objective of the program is to improve the cardiovascular fitness of the individual up to a level where the participant eventually would be able to participate in a regular program. Therapeutic Fitness The Therapeutic Fitness Program is designed for adults who are at risk for developing heart disease, diabetes, hypertension, cancer, or who are currently undergoing some level of treatment for these disorders. This program combines exercice with specific lifestyle recommendations, and how to integrate these changes into daily life. Our staff includes a nurse, a registered dietician and five highly qualified personal trainers to provide safe, graduated, individualized therapeutic exercises. Each new participant undergoes a comprehensive exercise-readiness assessment, health history and screening before starting. A customized program is developed and administered in a closely supervised environment. Participant improvement is monitored and programs are modified according to individual progress. Ideal for parents, babysitters and child care workers. This course focuses on prevention of childhood injuries. Skills taught are CPR for adults, infants and children as well as how to handle choking emergencies. CPR (Cardio Pulmonary Resuscitation) may well be the most valuable skill you will ever learn.

We are all living in a "Paper Jungle". Susan Portnoy will give you first-hand tips on how to tame it. She will discuss how to manage all incoming mail, how to create and maintain a filing system and how to stay on top of bill payments. Organizational Workshops : Paper Jungle #2

This will a hands on workshop where students will bring samples of their paper piles and newspaper clippings and Susan will go through the process, step by step, clearly demonstrating how to eliminate the build up. We will also review filing principles and discuss individual problems we all face with filing. Anyone who has attended a Paper Jungle workshop in thepast will love this refresher course.

Nina and Harry Hart Computer Drop-in Centre Nestled along the corridor of the Ben Weider JCC is a doorway that leads to the gateway of the world – and it’s open to everyone in the community.
The Nina and Harry Hart Computer Centre is a hub of activity six days a week from 9 a.m. to 9 p.m. Monday to Thursday, 9 a.m. – 3 p.m. Friday, and 9 a.m. – 5 p.m. Sunday.
Funded by community and private partners, the computer centre caters to a wide range of individuals, from teens during afternoon ‘drop-in’ hours and Sunday tutoring, to members of the special needs community, seniors, and the kids in the Y day camps, pre-school and daycare.
On Tuesday there is a chess club and on Thursday night, there are volunteers waiting to offer technical support to find solutions to your computer problems.

This certification will prepare you to teach group cycling classes on the Keiser M3 bikes. Learn the biomechanics and safety considerations of spinning as well as cueing and motivating participants in a group. This workshop consists of theory, master classes and practice.
