Y Cycle for Special Needs 2010
Dear Cyclists,
The annual Y Cycle for Special Needs takes place this year on September 26th, 2010 at the Glendale Golf and Country Club in Ste. Therese.
This promises to be an extra-special event as the Cycle marks its tenth anniversary, coinciding with the YM-YWHA’s 100th anniversary celebrations.
Over the past decade the Cycle for Special Needs has made enormous strides in funding programs and services for kids and teens who face intellectual or physical challenges. They depend on these activities to help them lead productive, independent lives.
Some of the many programs the Cycle supports are:
- Sunday Fun in the Gym Swim: a gym and action program for elementary school aged children
- We all Belong: trained ‘buddies’ accompany and assist individuals on a one-on-one basis so they can enjoy the Y’s athletic and fitness services
- Kids on the Block: a unique puppet program that fosters sensitivity among elementary students to kids with special needs.
To date Cycle participants have raised close to a million dollars which ensures the continuity of special needs programming. We extend our heartfelt thanks to all of you and encourage you to peddle even harder this year so we can meet and surpass our 2010 goals.
Come out and ride in force on September 26th and bring your friends with you. You can tell them the Y Cycle for Special Needs is truly a life-changing experience!
Register now on line or by contacting Natasha Currie-Blitt at 514-737-8628 ext. 228 or email natasha@ymywha.com.
Again, on behalf of the committee we thank you for all your support.
