We are excited to introduce you to: #FitYTeens: Training for the Game of Life! We specialize in helping teenagers between the ages of 12 and 17 lose weight and gain strength in order for them to move better in the game of sport but more importantly, in the game of life!
We have a complete multidisciplinary professional team on staff to help encourage and teach teens to achieve dietary, physical and mental well-being. Our year-long program prepares our participants for the changes required, supports them through the hardest moments and educates them on habits they will be able to maintain for the rest of their lives.
TOP 3 KEYS TO SUCCESS:
To achieve success in this program, we target the three main pillars of a person’s healthy well-being: the physical, the dietary and the mental.
When teens enroll in our program, they begin with twice a week physical activities, introducing them to ‘not your typical gym class’ forms of physical activity to allow them to find their interests.
From there we increase the frequency of physical activity to three to four times a week, encouraging the teenagers to choose their own preferred form of physical activity from our offered curriculum.
We finish the program by teaching them how to maintain physical activity in their lives and keep their interests peaked by new things!
When we need to change our health habits, many people know what to eat to be healthy but not everyone knows how to go about implementing it! That is exactly what we teach the teenagers and their parents through our nutrition component.
From the big details like making grocery lists and food prepping, to the little details of how to track your calories; our nutritionist offers workshops for parents and teens together to teach the family unit how to change food habits at home.
Our nutritionist also teaches the teenagers themselves how to make their own healthy decisions once they have left the comfort of their home… things like comparing cafeteria and food court options as well as what are better drink options!
The program is organized into three mental parts to help the teenagers achieve long term results:
- Preparation: Are you ready and willing to make changes? Do you have the self-esteem and self-efficacy in yourself to be able to achieve? Can you set realistic goals to prepare for the journey ahead? What are the long term goals after this program?
- Action: Are you an emotional eater and struggle in moments of stress? How do you face a plateau in your progress?
- Maintenance: How do you retain a healthy balance for the rest of your life?
If you answer yes to any of these questions, you may be the perfect candidate for our program!
