This cornerstone AA and AAA competitive program represents the YM-YWHA in the Montreal Basketball League. Each year we have over 70 Wolves Intercity players, starting at age 9 (Novice) up to age 18 (Juvenile).

House League

Weekly sessions run by certified coaches, help participants develop their basketball skills in a recreational environment. The program consists of weekly practices and Sunday games for children 9-12 years old.

Wolves Elementary School Basketball League. This grade 6 league gives every participating child the opportunity and the medium to develop their skill in a fun and challenging structured atmosphere.

Skills Development

We run two programs, Junior Wolves (9-12) and Little Wolves (6-8) to help with the development of basketball skills. With 60-minute sessions, the aim is to have the athlete improve their basketball skills and encourage them to pursue the sport.

Tournaments are a series of games involving multiple teams where the outcome of the games determine the champion. We run a Wolfpack Mini and Bantam Tournament as well as a WESBL grade 5 tournament. Each tournament is based on a minimum of three games.

Semi & private lessons

The program is designed to improve performance by providing athletes with the highest standard of fitness conditioning and basketball training. This program runs Tuesdays and Thursdays from 5:00-6:00pm with one day of basketball training and the other strength and conditioning.

Our Clinic is a workshop to improve specific basketball skills. We offer clinics to both Elementary and High School Students. It is a great opportunity to learn in a more hands on environment. Our clinics feature stations to work on your all-around game.

Semi & Private Lessons

Personalized one-to-one basketball instruction with a Wolves Coach for all ages. Designed to meet the individual’s needs.

Wolves Basketball has been a significant part of the YM-YWHA’s community since the organization was established in 1910. One of the Y’s fundamental and longest running sports programs, Wolves Basketball has over 600 participants each year, from diverse backgrounds, aged 6 to 18 years. The goal of the program is not only to grow the athletes of today, but the leaders of tomorrow. We believe that to be great athletes, one must represent your team on and off the court. Wolves Basketball runs development programming, elementary leagues, winter house league, day camps, clinics and spring leagues, to garner interest in basketball at a young age. We follow the principles of playing to win, playing fair, respecting opponents, teammates, officials and spectators, as well as, accepting defeat with dignity.

Providing a space for hands-on learning and opportunity is one our primary goals, while respect and dignity is our focus. Being part of the Wolves is a profound learning experience. Athletes build pride and confidence. They adopt a healthy lifestyle and gain exposure to a wider community, all while pushing their limits as they work towards a common goal. A bi-weekly study hall and a #wedogood mission is built into the experience.

Wolves Basketball is a major force in the Intercity League. Last season our teams won 3 Montreal Basketball League Championships, the Showdown Series Championship and 6 tournaments. Our players also have the opportunity to play in other provinces as well as in the USA. With the recent victory of the NBA Toronto Raptors, the Canadian basketball landscape is changing.  There are more opportunities than ever for our youth to get involved and participate in basketball.  Now is the time to grow.

The backbone of our program is supported by our participants and their families who fund the program. But your contribution can make all the difference. With your help we can update equipment, enter tournaments, provide tutors in our study hall, add a strength and conditioning component to our program, and hire qualified, experienced coaches. Most importantly, it would allow us to maintain reasonable program fees to benefit low-income families. With your support and generosity, we can expand our work to reach more people and strengthen our community for many generations to come.

Wolves Basketball is a family and our facility is home to many of our youth. We have coaches that mentor, encourage and teach life lessons to our players. We need the assistance of community-oriented individuals like you to continue growing our program.

Wolves Players

I joined the Wolves program 2 years ago. Since then, this program has helped me take my game to a whole different level and made me a smarter player. This program has also helped me grow as a human. This is a great organization.

Jarik Pillai

Joining the Wolves taught me a lot about winning and losing on and off the court. It taught me a lot about learning from my mistakes and finding ways to improve myself. Above all, it definitely taught me discipline. If you’re not getting to where you want to be, you’re not working hard enough!

James Jimenez

Joining this program was a great decision, not only for basketball but because of the coaches and amazing help we have from our amazing Wolf Pack community. Keep balling and do not stop being great. We are all amazing!
