The Y City Inclusion Camp is an engaging and adaptive camp, open to campers of all ages, and various developmental and physical abilities. The Inclusion Camp leadership team will collaboratively develop session-long programs with the families of children (K to Grade 6), youth (10+) and adult (18+) campers with a focus on fun, hands-on experiential learning in a Jewish environment. Our mission is to provide our campers with opportunities to develop new and meaningful connections within our community.

Y City Camp Inclusion Values

This year, the goals of our camp are to provide worthwhile and varied integration opportunities while building meaningful community relationships.
We want our campers to experience the joy of daily camp activities and leave our camp with new and lasting friendships!

A Day at Y City Inclusion Camp

Children (K to Grade 6): Campers are integrated with a companion into one of our mainstream day camp bunks.  They will participate and travel with their group but are able to modify their own schedule when needed with their companion.  We want to ensure that these campers feel included and welcome in their bunk’s everyday life but their assigned companion will ensure that appropriate adaptations are offered when necessary.

Youth (ages 10-19): Campers in this age group spend their day together in our youth bunks with our inclusion counsellors in a ratio of 1:2 or 1:3. They will follow a fun and rewarding adapted camp schedule based on their interests and needs.  We want these campers to spend their days together as much as possible, learning from one another and strengthening their friendships.

Adult (19+): Campers in this age group are looking for a traditional camp experience and will participate in fun activities together.  They will follow their own adapted schedule, develop new skills and participate in our Y community with their inclusion counsellors in a ratio of 1:2 or 1:3.  We want these campers to access our camp experience in an age appropriate group with a focus on fun while socializing with their peers.

As part of our camp support services we can offer to all inclusion campers the opportunity to visit the camp facilities before the start of camp this summer and practice parts of the daily routine, to become familiar with the space and begin to build bonds with the staff
